Steelcase creates change within its industry by collaborating and encouraging environmental solutions with its partners.
Steelcase continues to progress its sustainability initiatives by working with partners to rethink old ways. Most recently, they announced the launch of The Cogent Group at Greenbuild, a collection of antimony-free polyester textiles. You are probably wondering, "What is ‘antimony’ and why do I care?" This is a great question! Antimony is a heavy metal that is commonly used as a catalyst for manufacturing recycled polyester. Steelcase felt that since this substance poses environmental and human concerns, a better solution needed to be found. This is why The Cogent Group was formed. Collaboration was needed to find alternatives to antimony, so Steelcase reached out to its large textile mill partners to brainstorm options. This mindset of reaching out to partners to affect change in behind the scenes operations in order to improve the health of this planet demonstrates exceptional big-business leadership. Steelcase is taking responsibility for its environmental impact and encouraging others to change with them. We like where this is going and are proud to be partnering with such a forward-thinking industry leader.
