This green office supplier is engaging its customers to reduce the impact of shipping orders.
Dolphin Blue, a sixteen-year old online retailer of environmentally conscious office supplies announced its partnership with Renewable Choice to offer the Round Up Impact Down program to its customers. The program creates customer awareness and participation around contributing to carbon reduction projects by simply rounding up their order at checkout.
The goal of the program is to support carbon reduction projects and generate awareness for how shipping and delivering goods is one of many ways that carbon emissions are produced. By offering its customers the option to round up to the nearest dollar as they checkout, Dolphin Blue is aggregating this change and supporting a carbon reduction project by purchasing carbon offsets, also known as verified emission reductions (VERs).
So how does it work? When a customer goes to check out, they are given the opportunity to check the Round Up Impact Down option and the order is rounded up to the next whole dollar amount. The extra charge is collected and then matched by Dolphin Blue before it is invested in a carbon reduction project in the U.S. By adding this program, Dolphin Blue is further aligning its business and its values. Thomas Kemper, the founder of Dolphin Blue emphasizes that it was important to create “…an even greater contribution” in addition to providing environmentally responsible products. Blue Dolphin has been focused on the conscientious purchasing of office supplies since 1994.
