Want to simply address you and your clients' carbon footprint for events and green meetings?
TRAVEL ALERT!
WARNING: Event travel produces carbon dioxide emissions, a major contributor to climate change and, according to the EPA, a hazard to human health.
Renewable Choice launches GREEN YOUR EVENT, a simple and effective way to help address the environmental impact of events. GREEN YOUR EVENT allows event sponsors to enhance their environmental commitment and venues to improve and differentiate their event services.
As a responsible business, your organization travels less, holds more meetings over the web, and employs more sustainable practices at meetings by reducing waste, using compostable and recyclable materials, avoiding bottled water and employing other green methods
GREEN YOUR EVENT offers an additional solution to your green meetings toolkit, an event offset that balances the impact of travel and the event facility. Air travel alone accounts for 3-5% of carbon dioxide emissions released globally. Flight is one of the most fuel-intensive forms of passenger transportation and has a disproportionate short-term effect on climate. GREEN YOUR EVENT helps address these issues and provides participants with informative education and outreach materials.
- For venues, GREEN YOUR EVENT provides an opportunity to extend current green meeting initiatives by addressing attendee travel – the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions associated with events. Join a select group of hotel and event centers that partner with Renewable Choice to provide this turnkey service.
- For event sponsors such as corporations, trade associations and private events, GREEN YOUR EVENT is a new way to balance the impact of travel and offers an innovative education package to engage attendees and showcase your commitment.

Interested in learning more about the impact of events or how to make your event the greenest? The Sightline Institute, not-for-profit research and communication center, based in Seattle, summarizes some interesting research on air travel and climate change. EPA Green Meetings and the Green Meeting Industry Council also provide helpful information and resources on how to reduce the impact of your events.
PERSONALLY SPEAKINGCreating Green Your Event has been an exciting highlight for us this year and to be receiving so much support out of the gate with hotel and green meeting partners across the country shows how ready the event industry is for a program like this, and how much people stand behind renewable energy and offsetting as a means to address emissions and climate change. ~ Tom
