Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)

Renewable energy credits (RECs) allow companies to support renewable energy projects and reduce (or balance) the environmental impact of their electricity use (typically a company’s largest environmental impact). RECs contribute directly to development of domestically-produced, clean energy. For every REC purchased, one megawatt-hour of renewable energy is guaranteed to be added to the national power grid on your behalf.

Verified Emission Reductions (VERs), Carbon Offsets

Verified emission reductions (VERs), or carbon offsets, allow your company to support carbon reduction projects and balance the environmental impact of emissions from corporate travel, commuting, natural gas consumption, manufacturing operations and other activities.

Carbon offsets provide economic support to make carbon projects more financially viable. A carbon offset is a reduction of one metric ton of carbon dioxide equivalent. It ensures greenhouse gases, or GHGs, are being removed from the atmosphere or prevented from entering it. We offer two independently verified carbon offset products: Choice Carbon and Global Carbon.
