Vail Resorts, WhiteWave Foods on EPA's green-energy top-50 list (Excerpt)

Colorado's Vail Resorts Inc. and WhiteWave Foods Co. are on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's latest list of the nation's 50 biggest consumers of "green" energy.

Vail Resorts (NYSE: MTN) ranks No. 25 and WhiteWave is No. 35. Both Broomfield-based companies buy certificates representing wind-generated power for 100 percent of their domestic needs, EPA said

EPA's "Green Power Partnership" program compiles the list of companies, government agencies and other large power consumers. It said the top 50 consumers combined buy nearly 11.8 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable energy annually

According to EPA, Vail Resorts -- operator of the Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone and Beaver Creek ski resorts in Colorado -- purchases wind renewable energy certificates representing 151,311,000 kWh of "green" power a year.
