On Tuesday, President-elect Barack Obama met with Al Gore, former U.S. Vice-President and current chairman of the organization Repower America, to talk about solutions to the climate crisis. In a press conference, Obama stressed the need to invest in clean technologies as a way to reduce our contribution to climate change, boost our economy, and reduce our dependence on foriegn oil.
President-elect Obama said:
"…we have the
opportunity now to create jobs all across this country, in all 50
states, to repower America, to redesign how we use energy, to think
about how we are increasing efficiency, to make our economy stronger,
make us more safe, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and make us
competitive for decades to come, even as we’re saving the planet."
We applaud the commitment of our next president to implement solutions to reduce our national contribution to climate change and for dedicating himself to the important cause of renewable energy development.
